Waiuku took two draws from their weekend fixtures with a 1-1 draw up at Warkworth and a 3-3 draw at home to third placed North Shore.
The trip to Warkworth saw a very clean and entertaining game between two attacking teams, but was ruined by the referee in the middle. It what can be described as one of the best mannered games of Waiuku's season, Waiuku had a total of two red cards and eight yellows.
It all started when the Warkworth coach was sent off for dissent. Shane Godden got booked for a handball and then given his marching orders when a Warkworth defender went through the back of him. Before this Waiuku had taken the lead in some fine flowing football moves. Dom Winter got past his marker and then past the covering centre back before he got to the by line and squared a ball for Jamie Pegg to knock in at the far post. Warkworth got pulled up by some narrow offside calls but didnt really test Trent Hirst in goal.
Warkworth equalised in the second half when Vineet Kumar got in at the back post and swept the ball home. Waiuku came close to scoring a second but the goalkeeper kept them out before Warkworth nearly stole the winner but the striker only found Hirst when he was clean through on goal.
The North Shore game at home was another good entertaining game with plenty of chances and goals. Waiuku raced into a 2-0 lead when Jamie Pegg raced on to a Charlie Heather through ball and beat the keeper. Luke Sutton who came on for the injured Suvi Reddy who was taken to hospital in an ambulance was taken out by the goalkeeper just outside the box. Heather stepped up and scored in the top right corner of the goal. However North Shore came racing back into the game. Chris Bryson took advantage of a defensive mix up and then Connor Connelly scored with a great header after some good work down the left.
Heather put the home side ahead with a great finish inside the box but North Shore got a last minute penalty when Robert Hatton handled the ball. Charlie McNaughton finished to take a share of the points.
Charlie Heather got man of the match from both games in the weekend.
