The Waiuku Northern 1 Squad preseason games for 2009 have been confirmed. The team faces two new opposition teams which Waiuku has never played before and one familiar face.
Waiuku host Albany on the 21st of February as Alan Thompson brings what he says is an exciting squad south. Albany is in the top division of the United Soccer 1 Federation, which is a very competitive division where Albany finished in sixth place.
Waiuku travels to AFC Fury who is based in Te Puna which is just outside Tauranga. The game will take place on the 28th February and at this stage Waiuku are looking to combine a ladies game and take a bus down. AFC Fury plays in the Waikato/Bay of Plenty divisions.
Matamata travel to Waiuku on the 7th of March to play what has become an annual friendly. Matamata hosted Waiuku last year and won 2-1 in a great preseason game and this time round Waiuku look forward to trying to even the score against Dwayne and his boys in a game that always ends with a few beers. Matamata came second in the top Federation Three division last year.
