Waiuku hosted Cambridge on Saturday and the two teams produced a very entertaining game of football with both sides having the opportunity to take the three points. Waiuku welcomed back Danny Baldwin and Grant Muckle while the third Baldwin brother arrived early on Saturday morning from Vancouver to start up front. Read more.....

On home soil, the Waiuku ladies suffered a devastating loss in Round 2 of the Women’s Knockout Cup. The Div 2 side faced Div 1 opponents, Fencibles, and dominated, with what supporters reviewed to be their best performance all season. Although the final score was 3-2, Waiuku’s defence claimed credit for three of the five goals, while its strike force took the other two.

Having finished their league matches for the 2009 season, the Waiuku Premiers faced Papatoetoe’s Division 2 side in the first round of the Womens’ Knock-out Cup on Sunday, and claimed a narrow 1-0 victory.

Waiuku travelled to Mangere Mountain looking to build on last weeks win over Western Springs. However the injury curse returned to haunt Waiuku as first Grant Muckle and Joe Rayson ruled themselves out on the Friday while on Saturday morning star winger Danny Baldwin was ruled out as he was taken to hospital with stomach complaints. With Ken Nicoll suffering with a knee injury and relegated to the bench, Waiuku had eleven players on the morning so called in Johnny Whittaker to help out ton the bench even though he hadnt trained all season. Waiuku went down to Western Springs in a midweek game that was played at Seddon Fields. The pitch was an intriguing one with no grass on it at all and the lights not covering the entire pitch but it was the same for both sides as Springs looked for revenge. Read more........

Waiuku hosted Western Springs in the weekend, desperate to put behind them the hammering to second place Fencibles last week. On paper, Waiuku were nearly back to full strength for the first time since round one and with some confidence that they were going to be able to get some much needed consistency on the field. It took until the second half for the football to start flowing the Waiuku way but the game was probably over by then. Read more.....
