Great start to the Champonship round for the boys who went up from the 3rd division to the 2nd div and have a hard road to the top ahead.First game was a tester and they came away winners with a great team effort 4---1 winners against Bucklands Beach. The Next week saw the boys away to Fencibles and it was a tough game eventually going down 1--0 their first loss of the season. The next game was a home game to Manurewa and the Wekas fought hard and brought home a convincing win 3----2 .This was a path they needed to take as they had the top team Papatoetoe away the following week ,it was to be one of the hardest fought matches they have played and came away the victors by just the one goal Waiuku 1---0 this also took Waiuku to the top of the table with 9 points from 4 games, mention has to be made of the top goal scorer Alan Turoa Barnett who has put away a amazing amount of goals this year.Another Mention has to Callum Senior who in Goal has not conceded a single goal all year to date a great acheivement. Ben Buchanan has also played a vital role in the midfield this year and the other two halves Greg Jamieson and captain Simon peat have done a great job contolling the midfield but without our backs Sean Jamieson, John Single and Jacob Waldergrave we would be at the bottom of the list right now, another player who can play anywhere on the field is Nathan Hyde who steps up to any challenge and has proved himself very well ,great effort Wekas and keep going the title is there for the taking.
