Waiuku had their second game in succession without being postponed. The Blues took on 5th placed Ellerslie at the Fortress. Ellerslie took 3 points in the last encounter with a 2 nil win & the guys were hoping to change that result this time around. The weather had a huge effect on the game with rain & wind blowing across the field. The game started with Waiuku dominating the majority of the first half with some great possession football but after a handfull of near misses it took until the 42nd min when Tawatchai Thongplew (King) was taken down in the area for the Blues to go ahead with Stephen Pepping slotting home the penalty.
After the break the Ellerslie side started to use the wind to their advantage but the Blues still persisted on attacking although still squandered numerious opportunities which would have seen them go two or three goals up. Full credit to Ellerslie for not giving up they were rewarded with an extremely well struck goal in the 75th min making the final score 1 all sharing a point each.
Coaches note: To the Blues a fine effort keep playing like that & you will get results but also remember to take those opportunities while they are there or they will haunt you later. Man of the Match Jason Oliver
